Cheteshwar Pujara scores 90 runs in 203 balls in the first Test against India

Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara had a staggering outing in the first innings of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram. The right-hander was at his classical best and bailed India out of trouble after they were reeling at 48/3.

He soaked in all the pressure and showed great grit and resilience to steady the Indian ship. The right-handed frustrated the bowlers with his defence, which was impossible to breach. Pujara played a solid-looking inning and it was much needed for him and his team that helped them tilt the momentum to their way.

Pujara first stitched a crucial partnership with Rishabh Pant (46) and paved his way into the half-century with his sold defensive technique. After that, he stitched a mammoth 149-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer (82*) and went on to score 90 runs in 203 balls.

Pujara was looking all set for his ton but he was outfoxed by the brilliance of Taijul Islam, who bowled a middle-and-off line that was flatter, to which the batter tried to defend but the spun and uprooted the off stump. He played a rock-solid knock and helped India go past over 250 runs on Day 1 of the first Test. He scored 11 fours in his knock.
