“He Told Me”- Devon Conway Reveals The Advice From MS Dhoni That Helped Him Succeed Against Spinners

The 55th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League happened last night at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, where defending champions Chennai Super Kings bulldozed the Delhi Capitals. It was a morale-boosting win for CSK as they kept their hopes alive of qualifying for the playoffs. Devon Conway was the hero for Chennai Super Kings as he scored a match-winning half-century.

Conway opened the innings with IPL 2021 Orange Cap winner Ruturaj Gaikwad and had a partnership of 110 runs for the first wicket. While Gaikwad fell short of his half-century by nine runs, Conway held one end and scored 87 runs off 49 deliveries.

He had an opportunity to complete his maiden IPL century, but the Chennai Super Kings star lost his wicket to Khaleel Ahmed just 13 runs short of the three-figure mark. Conway smacked seven fours and five sixes in his entertaining knock. His batting strike rate was 177.

Devon Conway gave credit to MS Dhoni for his success against spin bowlers

Speaking at the post-match presentation after winning the Man of the Match award, Devon Conway heaped praise on MS Dhoni and said:

“I’ve got to give credit to MS tonight actually because in the last game I got out playing the sweep. He told me that they’ll look to bowl straight and so I could look to step down the track. That’s what I tried to do.”

Talking about his thought process for the match against Delhi Capitals, Conway added:

“The whole process was just about keeping it simple like I’ve done over the last three games.”

The Chennai Super Kings still have an outside chance of qualifying for the IPL 2022 playoffs. If they win their next three matches and the other results go their way, CSK could emerge as one of the four teams to qualify for this year’s playoffs round.
