England Vs South Africa 2nd test: Old Trafford, Manchester pitch report and weather conditions

South Africa has already taken a 1-0 lead in the series and might seal the series with another victory at Old Trafford

The second England Vs South Africa test match starts tomorrow in Manchester and while South Africa would be looking to seal the series after getting off to a rollicking start in the first test match at Lord’s, England would want to bounce back strongly and would want to send a message to their detractors that their Bazball style of play is not unsustainable.

After the first England Vs South Africa test, the England batsmen had come for a lot of criticism and a lot of people insisted that the style of aggressive batting the Poms are trying to adopt in test cricket can’t work against quality fast bowlers. But, England’s captain Ben Stokes didn’t agree to that and made it clear despite the loss that England would continue with their aggressive style of play.

Pitch report for the second England Vs South Africa test match

The venue for the second England Vs South Africa test match is Old Trafford and it’s one of those surfaces in England which assist the spinners a little bit, but the spinners are more likely to come into the game later this time.

One of the pictures of the pitch shared by an English journalist yesterday showed that the pitch had a lot of grass on it, but it remains to be seen how much of grass they will leave on the surface on the eve of the game.

The fast bowlers are likely to dictate the proceedings in the first innings. However, since there is always a possibility of the Old Trafford pitch breaking later in the game, teams might like to bat first at this venue, unlike the last game at Lord’s.

Weather conditions in Manchester for next 5 days

There is minimal chance of any rain throughout the test match unless the weather forecast changes dramatically. The current forecast of the met office, UK suggests that there might be an odd spell of rain towards the end of the play on day 3, but apart from that, it will remain dry for most parts of the game.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
