Chris Morris picks the semi-finalists for 2022 T20 World Cup, leaves out England

The 2022 T20 World Cup will start on October 16th. With just a few days to go before the tournament, fans and experts are in prediction mode. During the India vs South Africa ODI series, while doing commentary, Chris Morris made his pick for the Top 4 Teams of the upcoming tournament. Here, we take a look as former South African all-rounder Chris Morris’s picks the semi-finalists for the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Morris the semi-finalist for the 2022 T20 World Cup

Chris Morris has opined that Australia, South Africa, India, and New Zealand would reach the semi-finals of the ICC event. Australia is the defending champion and has a very strong squad. They will also be playing at home and hence, would have a good advantage. India is anyways one of the strongest squads in the game. They are the automatic favorites for most.

South Africa has a balanced unit and is capable of pulling off a surprise. The strength of the team is its bowling attack. New Zealand has a few issues but most of them would be solved if Kane Williamson can return to his best. With him doing well, the rest of the batting would be sorted. While Chris Morris’ picks were more or less on point, it is interesting to note that he left out England, a team that has been in terrific form.

A lot of teams have a chance to win the 2022 T20 WC

In 2021, very few predicted Australia to win the trophy. However, T20 can be an unpredictable format and Australia went on to lift the trophy. Hence, no team cannot be ignored in the tournament.

Teams such as Pakistan and Sri Lanka could also have a chance if they perform to their potential. West Indies might be in mediocre touch but T20 is a format that they like. If players like Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell step up, it could be difficult to stop them, too.
