“Both orange cap and purple cap coming to CSK,” Chennai Super Kings fans excited by the performances of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rajvardhan Hangargekar in Vijay Hazare trophy

While Maharashtra has qualified for the final of the Vijay Hazare trophy for the first time ever in their history, there is a CSK connection to it as well. Three of the prominent CSK players are part of the Maharashtra squad which is playing in the Vijay Hazare trophy and two of them have put on match-winning performances in the last two knockout matches of the tournament.

Maharashtra is now only one step away from becoming the Vijay Hazare trophy champions for the first time ever, but their victories in the quarter-final against Uttar Pradesh and in the semi-final against Assam were possible due to the performances of their captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and their fast bowling allrounder Rajvardhan Hangargekar, both of whom are CSK players as well.

While Ruturaj scored 220 runs in the quarter-final and 168 in the semi-final, Rajvardhan secured a 5-wicket haul and a 4-wicket haul in the two games respectively. The Maharashtra fans are happy with the fact that their team is in the Vijay Hazare trophy final now, but the CSK fans are equally excited as well because both Ruturaj and Rajavardhan are supposed to be the future flagbearers of CSK in the IPL.

While Ruturaj is already a permanent member of CSK XI, Rajvardhan might also get the opportunity to make his debut for CSK in IPL 2023, as CSK has decided to retain him despite not playing him in even one game last season. The fast-bowling allrounder might be in CSK’s plans right from the very start of the next IPL season.

One of the CSK fans actually got so excited by the performances of Ruturaj and Rajvardhan in the knockouts of the Vijay Hazare trophy that he posted on Twitter that both the orange cap and the purple cap of IPL 2023 are coming to CSK, as Ruturaj and Rajvardhan will be the respective leading run-scorer and leading wicket-taker in the league.
