Virat Kohli might have signaled a return to his old batting form with a sparkling hundred in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly planning to have a conversation with him and Ravindra Jadeja regarding their future in T20 international cricket after the T20 World Cup of 2022.
It has been reported by InsideSport that Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja are the two players whose workload in Indian cricket is the highest at the moment, as they play all three formats of the game. While it has resulted in regular injuries for Jadeja in recent times, Kohli has struggled with mental exhaustion and has had to take a few breaks from the game to freshen himself up.
Since India has got plenty of options now for the shortest format of the game, the Indian team management and the selectors want Kohli and Jadeja to focus on the other two longer formats once the T20 World Cup 2022 concludes in Australia.
BCCI won’t talk to Rohit Sharma about transition before the ODI World Cup of 2023
Rohit Sharma is another senior player who might be talked to by the Indian team management regarding the transition plans, but the talks with him won’t be held before the conclusion of the ODI World Cup of 2023.
Celebrate these people while you can because this is most likely to be the last T20 WC for Kohli, Rohit, Bhuvi, Jadeja, Ashwin and DK

The reports suggest that BCCI had made it clear to Rohit at the time of appointing him the captain that he would be in charge of the team till the ODI World Cup of 2023 and he would be allowed to formulate and execute his gameplan till the end of that tournament before any transition plans are discussed with him.
After the last T20 World Cup in UAE, the Indian team management had similar sort of transition discussions with Mohammed Shami and he was told clearly that he wouldn’t be considered for T20 international cricket anymore.
Not only that, but the Indian team management had also conveyed to the test wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and the fast bowler Ishant Sharma that they were moving on from them and were going to look for other options.
