During Australia’s first innings, footage showed Jadeja applying a substance to his finger. But as it turned out it was actually the spinner applying pain-relief cream to the index finger of his bowling hand. The media outlet made a huge fuss of it with several experts commenting on it.

Notably, Ravindra Jadeja was fined  25% of his match fee and given one demerit point for applying cream to his bowling finger without permission from the umpires He did not, however, alter the condition of the ball.
