Asia Cup does not have a semi-final or eliminator concept to decide the finalists amongst the Top 4 teams. Instead, there is a unique format in place called the Super Four stage. As per this format, the top two teams from each of the two groups qualify for this stage. The four teams participating in this round play against each other to populate a points table. The top two teams on this points table will meet in the final.
Afghanistan became the first team to qualify for the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2022. They defeated both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to comfortably enter the next stage. It now needs to be seen if they would repeat the good form in the Super Four stage.
Does group stage performance help in future rounds?

Not many expected Afghanistan to defeat both Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in the league stage. Now that they have done that, they will be high on confidence in the Super Four round. However, past performances do not count in the Super Four stage.
All teams will start from zero points in the Super Four stage. Hence, although they were undefeated in the group stage, Afghanistan will still have to start from the scratch in Super Four. Their only advantage will be that they will have good momentum behind them. In a multi-nation tournament, this can be really useful. This will stand the same for all the qualifying squads.
