3 Players who might get a chance to play in the final ODI after India wins the series against Sri Lanka

The third ODI between India and Sri Lanka will be played on 15th January.

India and Sri Lanka are locking horns in the ODI series. The Rohit Sharma-led side has already clinched the series 2-0 after the two staggering performances in the two games and they would be looking to complete the whitewash and end the series on high.

3 Players who might get a chance to play in the final ODI after India wins the series against Sri Lanka

With the series already in the bag, Indian Cricket Team would want to test his bench strength and give opportunities to youngsters considering the World Cup ahead. Let’s take a look at 3 Players who might get a chance to play in the final ODI after India wins the series against Sri Lanka.

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan could finally get a chance to play in the third ODI after India won the series against Sri Lanka. It was expected that Kishan would open considering he smashed a double century in the last ODI he played. The southpaw smashed 212 runs and helped India win the game. However, despite him scoring a double ton, Shubman Gill was preferred over him. Gill batted decently well in the two games but with the hectic schedule and Border Gavaskar around, the team would want to rest the batter and keep him fresh. Ishan on the other hand has been scoring consistently and therefore deserves a chance in the Indian side.

 Washington Sundar

It’s fair to say that Washington Sundar is one of the unluckiest luckiest cricketers. The all-rounder has proved his prowess his both bat and ball in the limited opportunities he has played but still has been benched. He didn’t play a single game in the T20I series as Axar Patel was preferred over him. But it was expected that he will walk straight into the XI for ODIs. However, this wasn’t the case as he was again benched for the first game. With Patel becoming the crucial member of India’s attack, the team would also want to keep him fresh and rest him for the dead rubber. Therefore if he is being rested, it opens doors for Sundar to play the third game.

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh could also be well in line to play the third game. He could replace Mohammad Shami in the team. The pacer looked out of sorts and struggled with his line and lengths. He conceded 67 runs in 9 overs and managed just 1 wicket in the first game. He looked in decent touch in the second game but yet again failed to take the wickets. With Jasprit Bumrah being injured, a lot would be relying on Mohammad Shami in the all-important Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Therefore the team can look to rest him and play Arshdeep Singh in the third game.
