“23rd April And RCB”- A Twitter User Shares Interesting Connection Between The Date And Bangalore IPL Team

The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway, and earlier today, fans witnessed a one-sided match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Brabourne Stadium. While most of the games at this venue have been high-scoring ones, the Royal Challengers Bangalore struggled to get going.

A clinical bowling performance from the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers helped them bowl the RCB team out for just 68 runs in the first innings. SRH captain Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to field first. The decision went in his team’s favor as Marco Jansen bowled a fiery first over.

Jansen dismissed the trio of Faf du Plessis, Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli in the same over. Fans expected the trio of Glenn Maxwell, Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed to save the Royal Challengers from a difficult situation once again, but they got out cheaply.

It seemed like the RCB team would not even manage a total of 50 runs. However, contributions from their lower-order batters ensured that the Faf du Plessis-led outfit finished with a total of 68 runs in 16.1 overs.

Soon after, a Twitter user shared an interesting coincidence of April 23 and RCB. It was the date when RCB got all out for 49 runs in 2017 and scored 263/5 in 2013.

On April 23, 2022, the Royal Challengers were skittled out for just 68 runs – their second-lowest team total in IPL history.

A day like today is not great: Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis

Speaking with the host broadcasters after his team lost the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 9 wickets, RCB captain Faf du Plessis said:

“Even in all good wickets, you have to assess the conditions in the first two overs. So no excuses. Also, Jansen was pretty good in that first over, moving it both ways. It is really important (to move on). A day like today is not great. You should not get emotional.”
