Although he did not start IPL 2022 on a good note, Mitchell Marsh has quickly made amends. While he produced a few vital cameos, on Wednesday against Rajasthan Royals, he came up with a match-winning performance. The Australian all-rounder was named the Man of the Match for his performance. Now, a Twitter user has talked about Marsh’s short career in IPL keeping his M.O.M awards in context. In this article, we take a look at an interesting fact pointed out by a Twitter user about Mitchell Marsh’s two M.O.M awards in IPL.
Mitchell Marsh’s two M.O.M awards in IPL
Chasing 160, Delhi Capitals were rocked early with the wicket of KS Bharat. The Aussie duo of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh struggled to make runs at the start. While Warner did not find his groove, Marsh could get his act right within a few overs. He made a total of 89 runs from 62 deliveries and helped DC win the game. Earlier, with the ball, he had two important wickets of that of Yashasvi Jaiswal and R Ashwin. Hence, he was the natural pick as the Player of the Match.
This award actually is not Marsh’s first in the competition. When he was representing the Pune Warriors India in 2011, the all-rounder won the award. He did not bat in that game but finished with bowling figures of 4-0-25-4, which helped his team win the match. Interestingly, the time span between these two awards is more than a decade. Here is what the Twitter user had to say:
Mitchell Marsh won 2 MOM awards in IPL
First MOM: 10/5/2011 (for PWI vs Deccan)
Second MOM: 11/5/2022

DC needs the player to retain his form
Delhi now has 12 points from 12 games with a good NRR. They have games remaining against Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians. The Rishabh Pant-led franchise has a good chance to enter the playoffs based on the other results. Anyways, they have to win their games and will need Marsh to remain in a similar kind of touch.
