If Mumbai Indians lose another game in IPL 2022, they might create history as no team ever in the history of the IPL has lost their first 7 games in a row. Mumbai has already lost 6 on the bounce and another loss might give them an unwanted record that they would never like.
There have been plenty of times in the previous seasons of IPL where Mumbai Indians have had slow starts and their worst start was in IPL 2014, where they had lost all 5 games that they had played in the UAE leg of the IPL.
But, when Mumbai Indians returned to India for the second leg of the 2014 IPL season, they made a comeback to the tournament and won 7 out of their next 9 games to make it to the playoffs.
The Mumbai Indians fans would be hoping for a similar kind of a comeback from the team again. Since their team has done it quite a few times in the past, they wouldn’t lose their faith just yet.
Mumbai Indians can’t afford another loss in IPL 2022
Mumbai, however, under no circumstances, can afford another loss, as not only would it significantly minimize their chances of playoffs qualification this year, it would make them the first team ever in the history of the IPL to register 7 losses on the trot at the start of the season.
When Mumbai Indians had constructed their team in the mega auction, it was well known to them that Jofra Archer wouldn’t be available for this season and hence, their team would be slightly weakened for IPL 2022. But, they certainly weren’t expecting this kind of a start where they would lose 6 games in succession.
As Mumbai looks for a comeback in IPL 2022, they are playing a vital game today, facing their most bitter rivals in the tournament, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who are themselves struggling big time, having won just one out of their 6 games so far.
