MS Dhoni’s reply to Harsha Bhogle wins over the internet

MS Dhoni won his 4th IPL title last night as the captain of CSK

MS Dhoni dropped hints last night that he might still continue to play some kind of role for CSK next season. The former Indian captain won his 4th IPL title yesterday captaining CSK and many thought he might bid farewell, but when the presenter Harsha Bhogle told him in the post-match show that he was leaving a great legacy behind, Dhoni was quick to say, “I am still not leaving behind”.

Dhoni has been saying recently that he is not sure about his retention as a CSK player because there is a mega auction coming up with two new teams and he doesn’t know how many players BCCI will allow franchises to retain. And if there are two or three players allowed, he is not sure if he himself is among those top 2 or 3 players who should be retained because the franchise now needs to build the team for the next 10 years.

However, for Dhoni to say that “he is still not leaving” means even if he doesn’t play for CSK next season, he will remain associated with the franchise in some capacity and will continue to be a part of the decision-making process at the franchise.

IPL 2021 was not the best season with the bat for Dhoni, but he captained the team very well

This was not Dhoni’s best IPL season with the bat, but he still played a couple of key cameos for the team including the one in the first qualifier which helped CSK qualify to the final. And Dhoni’s captaincy as usual was spot on in most of the games which allowed CSK to plot a remarkable turnaround from where they had finished last season.

In the final match against KKR again, although the CSK batsmen had put a huge score on the board batting first, bowling conditions were not easy in the second innings with plenty of dew and KKR had got a good start as well, but Dhoni held his nerves and rotated his bowlers well to make sure KKR didn’t run away with the game.

The CSK fans, who were already happy having won their 4th IPL title, celebrated even more as Dhoni said “I am still not leaving”.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
