“MS Dhoni told me he would play some cricket outside IPL this year,” reveals IPL commentator Simon Doull
MS Dhoni has already made it clear that he would play for CSK in next IPL too

The former New Zealand fast bowler and the current IPL commentator Simon Doull has revealed that he had a chat with MS Dhoni when he was leaving after the conclusion of CSK’s campaign in the ongoing IPL and he asked him while leaving what he would do from now till the next IPL because he has already retired from international cricket.
According to Simon Doull, who was speaking on Cricbuzz, Dhoni told him that he is going to take a small break and then he is going to play some cricket outside IPL, but didn’t specify at which level or in which tournament, he is going to play.
Simon Doull revealed MS Dhoni wants to be in good batting rhythm before the next IPL
Simon Doull further stated that Dhoni told him that he realized in the last couple of seasons that when he is not playing any cricket anywhere else and straightaway comes into the IPL, he finds it tough to maneuver the ball. That’s why, this time around, he is going to be playing some cricket outside IPL, so that when the next IPL season arrives, he is in some batting rhythm.
The batting form of MS Dhoni actually looked pretty good this IPL, but he looked at his dangerous best only when he came to bat at a time when he just had to play the big shots. Whenever he came to bat with plenty of overs in hand, he couldn’t rotate the strike and find the gaps easily.
And that is the exact reason why Dhoni wants to play some cricket during the gap between two IPLs this time around. The gap between the two seasons will be bigger this time around, as the full season has been completed in one go and wouldn’t be played in two legs like it was played last year because of COVID.
