MS Dhoni to get hospitalised in Kokilaben hospital, might undergo multiple tests and knee surgery

MS Dhoni played right through the IPL season with knee injury and didn't let it affect his wicketkeeping at all

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni looked in a lot of discomfort with his knee right throughout IPL 2023, but he never talked about the nature or extent of his injury in the media and not a lot of people got to know how serious the injury was.

But as the IPL concluded on Monday night and CSK raced to their 5th IPL title, now the reports are emerging that MS Dhoni might get hospitalised in the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani multi-speciality hospital in Mumbai, where he will undergo various tests and if required, the CSK skipper might even undergo knee surgery.

During IPL 2023, Dhoni generally kept himself slotted down the order and came out to bat only during the last phases of the CSK innings, but he kept wickets for 20 overs in every game and whatever knee injury he was carrying, wicketkeeping for 20 overs in 16 games must have taken a toll on that injury.

The 42-year old Dhoni has time in his hands as he doesn’t play any other form of professional cricket apart from the IPL and he is not sure of playing the next season of the IPL either now. So even if he has to go through surgery for his knee injury, he will have enough time to rest and recover and he won’t have to rush himself.

MS Dhoni was struggling with knee injury few months before the start of IPL 2023

MS Dhoni had, reportedly, been struggling with knee injury for a few months before the start of IPL 2023, but he went into the IPL with the injury and came out of it as the victorious captain, after a dramatic final on Monday night where CSK’s premier allrounder Ravindra Jadeja won the game for the men in yellow with a six and a four off the last two balls.

It remains to be seen now whether Dhoni plays one more IPL season or this was the last IPL of his career.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
