“MS Dhoni has now told me to focus on death bowling,” reveals CSK’s new left arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary

Mukesh Choudhary has been very good with the new ball for CSK in the last few games

CSK’s left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary has revealed that after he has performed decently with the new ball, the CSK skipper MS Dhoni has now asked him to focus on his death bowling.

In the initial parts of this year’s IPL, CSK was mostly using Mukesh upfront with the new ball, but in the last couple of games, Mukesh has bowled in the death too and in fact, in the last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he bowled two overs in the death, the 18th, and the 20th.

The 18th over was very much the match-defining over because Mukesh didn’t just bowl economically in that over, he also dismissed two of SRH’s finishers, Shashank Singh and Washington Sundar.

However, in the 20th over, Mukesh went for a few runs as Nicholas Pooran managed to play some big shots against him, but it didn’t affect the outcome of the game.

I discuss my gameplan with MS Dhoni before every game: Mukesh Choudhary

According to Mukesh Choudhary, who was in an exclusive conversation with the Times of India, even when he is operating with the new ball, Dhoni tells him to ensure that the batsmen don’t get too many runs. If the batsmen don’t get too many runs, the wickets will come, as the batsmen might play the wrong shots looking for runs.

Mukesh also revealed that before every game, he goes to Dhoni and talks to him about his game plan. Sometimes, Dhoni likes his game plan and asks him to go ahead with it, and sometimes, he makes some changes to it.

Mukesh, who is 25 years of age at the moment, also talked about his conversations with one of CSK’s prominent players Deepak Chahar who is unfortunately ruled out of this edition of IPL because of injury.

Mukesh said that he regularly talks to Deepak and Deepak keeps telling him what he is doing well and what he should do to be even better.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
