The 46th game of IPL 2022 happened earlier tonight at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, where MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad to take their overall points tally to six this season. SRH won the toss and decided to bowl first, but the decision did not work in their favor.
CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway added 182 runs for the first wicket. Gaikwad fell just one run short of his century, while Conway scored 85 runs and remained not out till the end. T Natarajan was the sole wicket-taker for the Sunrisers Hyderabad with two wickets to his name.
Chasing 203 runs to win, the Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a good start, with Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson scoring 58 runs in 5.5 overs. However, they lost momentum and lost by 13 runs despite a 64-run knock from Nicholas Pooran.
Speaking with the host broadcasters after suffering his second consecutive loss of IPL 2022, SRH captain Kane Williamson said:
“I suppose when you get over 200, there is a real challenge while chasing. There were lots of positives in the chase, the pitch was slow. At the end of the day, it is important that we take the positives and move on to the next one. You just want to touch on a few matters and move on.”

Chennai Super Kings managed to record only two wins while playing under the captaincy of Ravindra Jadeja, and now under MS Dhoni, they have played one match and registered one win. CSK still have minimal chances of qualifying for the playoffs. If they keep winning, they can finish in the Top 4. The race to the playoffs is still on.
