Maxwell Jacob Friedman, more popularly known as MJF in the wrestling world has become one of the most renowned names in the business from AEW. However, he had been absent from AEW television programming since last year’s pay-per-view, AEW Worlds Collide which had wrestling fans speculating about his future.
The talk came to an end when the former AEW World Champion made a triumphant return at AEW Double or Nothing last week. The segment saw Maxwell taking out the man who put him on the injured list, Adam Cole.
Moreover, he also revealed his AEW tattoo and pledged his allegiance to Tony Khan and his company despite being rumored to join the rival company, WWE for a long time.
What did MJF say about a move to WWE?
Interestingly, MJF has now revealed that a move to WWE was indeed a genuine possibility. During a recent conversation with Sports Illustrated, The Salt of the Earth addressed the possibility of moving to the global juggernaut and confirmed that it was a real consideration amidst his time as a free agent.
“Of course there was. Am I going to get into the w**ds? No. At this point in time, this move made the most sense to me. I’m making a ton of f—— money. As far as when the contract ends, that’s nobody’s business but my own.”

I can't wait for his return, at this rate have him take it off swerve in a few months or a huge heel turn(or just proving he's heel) in cheating to beat osperay if they are going that way. https://t.co/QCyEWYQiw9Advertisement— GrabTheMic (@TranzMorphing) June 5, 2024
After ruling out his move to WWE and making a huge impact at Double or Nothing, MJF made his first appearance on AEW Dynamite after months. His promo saw him verbally destroy an array of superstars who he believed took his spot like Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada, and current AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland.
Moreover, he even brawled with AEW star Rush who hinted at going after MJF last week with all signs pointing toward him as MJF’s first rival back in AEW.
