Virat Kohli hails Dinesh Karthik

Once more, it was a top-order failure for RCB and the team was struggling at 40-3 and then at 87-5. With the kind of batting line-up that Delhi Capitals had, RCB had to post a good total to stay in the game. Dinesh Karthik came to the crease a little earlier than in previous encounters. He scored 66 runs from 34 deliveries to help RCB post a score of 189. DK’s knock included five fours and sixes each.

Virat Kohli interviewed Dinesh after the game and applauded his performances so far, by saying, “I haven’t done this a lot. But here I am, today is a special night to do it. I am here with the man of the moment, ‘Man of the IPL’ for me so far.”

The highest run-getter in IPL history continued, “It’s been wonderful. I won’t even say ‘long may it continue’ because it will and you’re in that of space and I can see that. It was an honour to watch you bat again. Thanks for getting us across the line.” Virat concluded, saying, “This is the best I have seen you bat since IPL 2013.”

A positive sign for RCB

Dinesh Karthik has scored 197 runs so far at an average of 197 and a strike rate of 209. He has done the job for RCB when the team was under pressure and that has been the speciality so far. RCB is one franchise that usually relies on the top-order, and it is a positive for them that the middle-order is coming good. The team will hope that it continues for the rest of the tournament.
