Virat Kohli’s 100th Test is set to begin this Friday at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. At first, the authorities decided against allowing fans in the stadium for the match, but now, the PCA and the BCCI have confirmed that there will be 50% crowd for the first match of the ICC World Test Championship series between the Indian cricket team and the Sri Lankan cricket team.
The cricket universe should note that Virat Kohli’s 100th Test would have happened in South Africa had he not missed the second match of the series because of an injury. Kohli played his 99th Test there, and now he is all set to play his 100th and 101st Test in Mohali and Bengaluru.
Both venues have a close connection with Kohli. Mohali was the venue where Kohli took over as the full-time Test captain of the nation, whereas Bengaluru is his second home ground because he has represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore in all the IPL seasons that have happened so far.
Confirming that the Mohali Test match will have 50% crowd, the Punjab Cricket Association Treasurer RP Singla said:
“We got the communication from BCCI about the allowing of fans for the 1st Test match at Mohali. So far, we will allow online sale of tickets from Wednesday onwards.”
The ticket sales have already begun for the Test match online, and more than 12,000 fans are expected to be in attendance to watch the first match of the ICC World Test Championship series between the Indian cricket team and the Sri Lankan cricket team.
