List of Top 10 players with most international century

On Thursday, Virat Kohli scored his 71st century after a long wait. With this, he equaled Ricky Ponting at the second position in the list of batters with the highest number of centuries. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of players with the most international century so far.

Players with most international century

A century is an ultimate milestone for a batter. It is too hard to score them on a consistent basis. However, a few players made a habit of scoring them regularly. Virat Kohli is one such player.

However, since 2019, it has been tough for Virat Kohli. He batted well in many games but just could not get to the three-figure mark. However, in Asia Cup 2022, Virat finally achieved the milestone. In T20Is, he had not got a century and against Afghanistan, he scored a ton and got this baggage also off his back. Overall, it was a fine knock by Virat and that has brought him closer to Sachin Tendulkar. Getting to the Master Blaster might be difficult but for now and for a very long time, Virat might enjoy the No.2 position on this list.

  1. Sachin Tendulkar – 100
  2. Virat Kohli – 71*
  3. Ricky Ponting – 71
  4. Kumar Sangakkara – 63
  5. Jacques Kallis – 62
  6. Hashim Amla – 55
  7. Mahela Jayawardene – 54
  8. Brian Lara – 53
  9. Rahul Dravid – 48
  10. AB de Villiers – 47

Some current batters get into this list

The Top 10 list is currently filled with retired cricketers with the exception of Virat Kohli. However, that is set to change soon. Joe Root (44), David Warner (43) and Rohit Sharma (41) are pretty close to the Top 10 List. In fact, all these cricketers could also get a chance to hit 50 international centuries.

For the upcoming batters, scoring centuries could be difficult. Now, barring Test cricket, the other two formats see impactful contributions as a more necessary requirement. Hence, we could see players operating with a different approach in the future.
