Asian cricket teams have passionate fanbases. A few rivalries, especially those between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, always promise an intense encounter. While this was always on the cards, not many predicted Asia Cup 2022 to be a close tournament. India was seen as the clear favourite with Pakistan coming second on the list. However, Sri Lanka surprised everyone by reaching the finals.
Most importantly, each match of the Asia Cup offered a different narrative and was a close game at the end of the day. Matches between India and Pakistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan and between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were all savoured by the fans. Some promising cricketers such as Naseem Shah were also introduced to the fans. The century by Virat Kohli was a cherry on the cake. Overall, it was a memorable tournament for the fans.
