“Let’s Hope It Does Not Affect Negatively”- Irfan Pathan Reacts As MS Dhoni Replaces Ravindra Jadeja As Captain

The Chennai Super Kings made a massive announcement last night as Ravindra Jadeja stepped down as the captain of the team, with MS Dhoni returning as the skipper once again. Playing under the captaincy of Dhoni, the Super Kings won the 2021 edition of the IPL. However, since Dhoni is likely to retire from the league soon, the team owners thought about the future and decided to assign the reins of the team to someone else.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had been with the squad since 2012. Since he had so much experience of playing for the Chennai Super Kings, the CSK team management decided to elect him as the new captain.

Unfortunately though Jadeja did not have the best start as the captain. He lost four matches on a trot, and after eight matches under Jadeja, the Chennai Super Kings only have four points. Now ahead of their ninth game of the tournament against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Dhoni is the captain again.

Reacting to the news of CSK changing their captain midway in IPL 2022, former Chennai Super Kings player Irfan Pathan wrote:

“I really Feel for Ravindra Jadeja. Let’s hope it doesn’t effect him as a cricketer in a negative way.”

“He even started dropping catches”- An Insider revealed the discussion ahead of MS Dhoni replacing Ravindra Jadeja as CSK captain

A report by Cricbuzz claims that the burden of captaincy affected Ravindra Jadeja’s performance as a player. They were worried because he is the world’s best all-rounder but did not perform up to the expectations in IPL 2022. He is also among the best fielders in the world, but he has dropped simple-looking catches this season.

“The management cannot be silent that the world’s best all-rounder is not performing to his best. Obviously, he is weighed down by the burden of captaincy. He even started dropping catches,” the insider told Cricbuzz.
