Former Australian cricket team leg-spinner and the first-ever Indian Premier League winning captain, Shane Warne has predicted the winner of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. Many fans would know that the second phase of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway in the United Arab Emirates.
There are still many matches left to be played in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, but Shane Warne has already picked his winner. Warne has been associated with the Rajasthan Royals team for quite some time. However, the Aussie legend did not pick the Jaipur-based franchise. Interestingly, Warne did not pick former three-time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings as well.
I think Delhi Capitals will win this year: Shane Warne
Shane Warne feels that the Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals will end IPL 2021 as the winners. Last year in the United Arab Emirates, the Capitals finished runners-up in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League. However, Warne believes Delhi will cross the final hurdle this year. Here’s what Warne tweeted earlier today:
“Morning from London followers. What a day of sport is ahead. First the @AFL grand final (come on the bulldogs). Then the @rydercup (come on Europe) followed by the @IPL (I think Delhi will win it this year) and finishing the day off we have the boxing (come on Anthony Joshua.”

Has Delhi Capitals won the Indian Premier League ever before?
The Delhi-based franchise has been part of the Indian Premier League since the inaugural edition of the tournament. However, they have never been the champions. Earlier, this franchise was called the Delhi Daredevils. Some of the biggest names in world cricket like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, AB de Villiers, Morne Morkel, Albie Morkel, David Warner, Kevin Pietersen, Yuvraj Singh, Dinesh Karthik, Glenn McGrath, Shoaib Malik and several others have played for the Delhi-based franchise in the Indian Premier League.
However, they have never won the championship yet. The Delhi Capitals have an opportunity of winning the title this year. It will be exciting to see if the prediction made by Shane Warne proves to be correct.
