Top 5 Raiders with the most super raids in Pro Kabaddi

Pro Kabaddi League has gained immense popularity in the last five years. The organizers have been incredibly successful in their mission. They aimed to take the sport from mud to mat. The same happened as even people of regions where kabaddi was not so popular have become die-hard kabaddi fans. One of the most attractive parts of the kabaddi game is ‘Super Raids.’

Pro Kabaddi has popularized this term. Generally, a raid yielding no points is an empty raid. A raid producing one or two points is a successful raid. However, when a raider returns with three points from the opposite part of the court, it is known as ‘Super Raid.’ Not every raider can perform this type of raid. This listicle features the top five raiders with the most super raids.

5. Ajay Thakur – 23

Ajay Thakur is famous as The Iceman. Like MS Dhoni, he has a calm head. Incidentally, Thakur is the captain of the Chennai-based PKL franchise. Ajay has executed 23 super raids in his PKL career. He has played for three franchises.

The Bengaluru Bulls signed him in the first player auction. He helped Bengaluru reach the final in season two. Later, Ajay played for the Puneri Paltan. In season five, Tamil Thalaivas entered the league. They announced Ajay Thakur as their captain.

4. Rahul Chaudhari – 24

Rahul Chaudhari was the first poster boy of the Pro Kabaddi League. He became a well-known name because of his raiding skills. Rahul earned the nickname of Raid Machine. Subsequently, he even became the most successful in PKL. Rahul held this record for a long, long time.

Chaudhari majorly focuses on bonus and solo touch. However, when the defense tries to tackle him, he often sneaks away with many points. Rahul has played for the Telugu Titans and the Tamil Thalaivas. He was with the Titans for six seasons. In his career, Chaudhari has executed 24 super raids.

3. Rishank Devadiga – 25

A few fans might find it surprising that Rishank Devadiga is ahead of Rahul Chaudhari on this list. Devadiga has executed one super raid more than the Tamil Thaliavas star. Rishank started his career at U Mumba. He gained much fame at that franchise. Later, he switched to the UP Yoddhas.

Devadiga has played a vital role in UP’s success. The Yoddhas have qualified for the second round in every season they have played. Also, U Mumba had reached the final thrice when Rishank played for them. This shows Rishank is a match-winner. His 25 super raids signify the same.

2. Pawan Kumar Sehrawat – 26 Super Raids

Pawan Kumar Sehrawat has quickly risen on this list. Till season five, not even fans knew him. However, his life changed in season six. Pawan became the face of the Bengaluru Bulls franchise. He formed a marvellous partnership with captain Rohit Kumar to help the Bulls win the title.

Later, Pawan replaced Rohit as the captain. Sehrawat once played for the Gujarat Fortune Giants. However, the defenders dominated him in the first few seasons. In season six and seven, he has scored a mountain of points. Pawan’s 26 super raids have majorly come in the last two seasons only.

1. Raider with most Super Raids – Pardeep Narwal: 53

Pardeep Narwal helped the Patna Pirates win three consecutive seasons. This feat is unimaginable for a normal kabaddi player. Pardeep started his career at Bengaluru Bulls. Later, he became a part of the Pirates. That switch proved to be a game-changer.

Not a single raider other than Pardeep has even 30 super raids. Meanwhile, Narwal has 53 super raids to his name. He has become the captain of Patna now. Last year, their defense could not perform well. Pardeep will hope for better support in the next seasons.
