The first game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is currently taking place between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi International Stadium. The GT skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first.

It was a decent start from Gujarat as Mohammad Shami removed Devon Conway early. But after that Moeen Ali (24) and Ruturaj Gaikwad treated the crowd with terrific shots all over the ground. Rashid Khan brought his side back into the game with two quick wickets.

But it was all about Gaikwad as he played some staggering shots and smashed GT bowlers all over the park. The batter played a gritty knock of 92 runs. A finish by Shivam Dube (19) and MS Dhoni (14*) helped CSK post a total of 178 runs on the board. For GT, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shami and Alzarri Joseph bagged two wickets each.

Chasing the target, Wrddhiman Saha (25) and Shubman Gill (63) took their team off to a great start as they smashed 37 runs for the opening partnership. After the keeper batter was back in the hut impact player Sai Sudharsan (22) played a handy knock along with Gill and put his team in a great position.

But a few quick wickets brought CSK back into the game. Vijay Shankar then held the fort for his team and landed some lusty blows but he was back in the hut for 27 as Rajvardhan Hangargekar bagged his third wicket of the day. The game went down the wire but Rashid Khan came out all guns blazing and went after Deepak Chahar in the penultimate over. With 8 runs needed off the last over, Rahul Tewatia smashed six on the first ball and took his side home on 2nd ball.
