“It was a game forcefully played,” Harmanpreet Kaur not happy after having to play first T20I against England on an extremely wet outfield

Indian women's team lost the game by a massive margin of 9 wickets as England chased the target down in just 13 odd overs

Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of Indian women’s cricket team, was not happy with the fact that the first T20 international game between the women’s teams of India and England was played yesterday despite the fact that the outfield was not good enough to play.

There was some rain ahead of the start of the game at Chester-le-Street and the outfield had not completely dried, but the authorities still decided to go ahead with the game. India batted first and couldn’t put enough runs on the board and then had a woeful night with the ball as well, as England won the game by 9 wickets.

But, according to Harmanpreet Kaur, she was still proud of her players that they put in their 100% despite the fact that the conditions, that were on offer, were far from ideal for a game of cricket. Harmanpreet insisted that there were a lot of areas on the ground which were slippery and the players were in danger of getting injured.

Our main bowler got injured because of slippery conditions: Harmanpreet Kaur

Harmanpreet said that it was a match that was “forcefully” organized and it was because of the slippery conditions that one of India’s main bowlers Radha Yadav got injured and couldn’t bowl a single delivery in the game.

Radha Yadav was the only left-arm spinner that India had in their playing XI and with her getting injured, India had to rely on their off-spinners and the medium pacers, which made England’s job slightly less challenging as they cruised to the target in just 13 odd overs at the loss of one wicket.

While it was a heavy loss for India in terms of numbers, Harmanpreet Kaur wasn’t too harsh at her team. Harmanpreet rather said that the ground conditions were very troublesome and whatever her players could do in the game, she was proud of their efforts.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
