On March 15th, WWE announced the Great Muta as the latest member into WWE Hall of Fame after creating significant suspense by announcing Ric Flair as the special guest for this announcement. Legendary Japanese wrestler, the Great Muta joined fellow inductee, Rey Mysterio for the WWE Hall of Fame, 2023.

Muta is a world-renowned and one of the most feared wrestlers, faring in Japanese promotions that included the likes of All Japan Pro Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH but most significantly in the US based World Championship Wrestling.

Muta kickstarted his career in NJPW where he made quite a name for himself before making way to the WCW, picking feuds with Sting, Lex Luger and even the iconic Texas Rattle Snake or the Stone Cold Steve Austin. He plied his trade in the ring by his ‘Stunning’ nickname.

The illustrious wrestler left an impressive trail of legacy all over the planet, that saw him lifting the heavyweight championship a staggering nine times. Muta’s impressive legacy includes a flurry of innovative moves that are used till date that features the likes of the Muta Lock submission hold and the Shining Wizard that is currently being used by SmackDown superstar, Tegan Nox.

His spraying of mist in the opposition’s eyes were later used by Tajiri and now it is being used by Asuka, underlining the kind of rampaging popularity that he grew in the process. He wasn’t the trailblazer of the Moonsault but his perfection of the same wowed audiences dating back to 1980s.

Muta wrestled for a staggering 39 years but eventually called it a day with one final match against the Rising Sun, Shinsuke Nakamura. Twitterati had their say in the latest induction, eventually lauding WWE’s decision to bring the big man into the Promised Land.
