“It Goes Numb”- Shah Rukh Khan Reveals His Mindset When KKR Chased 190+ To Win IPL 2012 and 2014 Finals

Kolkata Knight Riders are former two-time IPL champions. They are one of the only three franchises that have won the IPL trophy more than once. KKR team owner and famous Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan was present at the stadium on both occasions when his team won the final and lifted the trophy.

The first one happened in 2012 when the Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium by chasing 191 runs to win the game. Manvinder Bisla was the hero for the Kolkata-based franchise in that match.

Two years later, the Kolkata Knight Riders qualified for another IPL Final. They faced Punjab Kings in the IPL 2014 Final at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In that game, KKR chased down a 200-run target to win the match.

Shah Rukh Khan spoke about KKR’s title wins in a recent social media video

It was on June 1, 2014, that Piyush Chawla scored the winning runs for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the final and helped them win their second championship. On the eighth anniversary of that win, Shah Rukh Khan shared the details of his mindset during the game and said:

“I had this belief that I am thinking my team into victory. And both times it has happened, that it goes numb.”

Umesh Yadav also recalled his experience of playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2014

Umesh Yadav, who played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022, was also a part of the squad during the 2014 season. It was Yadav’s first season with KKR and they won the trophy. Recalling the winning moment from the final, Yadav said in a social media video:

“After Piyush Chawla scored that winning shot, there was just mayhem in the ground. When I came to KKR, in the first year itself we became champions, so it was a different level of feeling.”
