Ireland will host Afghanistan for five T20I games in the month of August. All the matches will happen at the same venue in Belfast, with the first one scheduled on August 9th. Here, we take a look at the pitch report of Stormont and the weather conditions in Belfast for the Ireland vs Afghanistan series.
In the context of the 2022 T20 World Cup, the upcoming five-match series between Ireland and Afghanistan will be extremely relevant. Both these teams have been doing well and this series could decide the firm direction in which they are headed.
Additionally, for Afghanistan, the management will also keep an eye on the Asia Cup 2022, which will start on August 27th. Ireland, though, has been punching above its weight in recent weeks but is struggling to get decisive results. They will look to repeat the performances against the Afghans to get a few wins.

So far, 22 T20I matches have been hosted at the Stormont Cricket Ground. The average score batting first is 112 and that speaks volumes about the kind of pitches on offer. Teams batting second have won 13 of the games and that is obvious considering high-scoring first innings are few in number.
The highest team score on this wicket is 190/5 by Bangladesh in 2012 while the lowest is 53 by Nepal in 2015. Dane Cleaver recently scored a 78* and that happens to be the best batting display on this wicket.
Speaking about bowling, Elias Sunny’s five-wicket haul (5/13) in 2012 is the best bowling show in Stormont. With the likes of Rashid Khan involved, we could see some of the records toppling in the next few days.

At around the start of the game on August 9th, the temperature will be around 23 degrees celsius in Belfast. This will be a comfortable temperature for the proceedings of the match.
Importantly, there is no rain expected. That will be a big relief for the fans, especially those who will visit the venue for the match.
