Who won yesterday’s IPL match between SRH and RCB

Who won yesterday’s IPL match: Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH) faced off in Chennai for the second match of their respective campaign at IPL 2021. David Warner won the toss and opted to field first vs RCB. Devdutt Padikkal returned to the RCB lineup and replaced Rajat Patidar. SRH opted for Holder in place of Nabi while Nadeem got an opportunity in place of Sandeep Sharma.

Padikkal could not make a mark on his comeback and ABD once again did not come to bat at number 3. Shahbaz Ahmed hit a few boundaries after coming in place of ABD but did not last long. Glenn Maxwell showed a lot of maturity for the second game running and did not take any unnecessary risks on a turning pitch.

Kohli and ABD departed in quick succession and the onus was on Maxwell to take RCB to a defendable total. With Kyle Jamieson for company, Maxwell scored a half-century and RCB reached 149 at the end of 20 overs.

Warner’s fifty in vain

Warner and Saha opened for Sunrisers Hyderabad in chase of 150 on a tricky wicket. Saha departed after a horrendous start as he took nine balls to score just a run. Pandey and Warner gave SRH a steady platform and when Warner departed SRH needed just 54 runs in 44 balls. All eyes were on Manish Pandey once again as he had failed to take his franchise over the line in the previous game.

However, it was a very familiar collapse for Sunrisers Hyderabad as Shahbaz Ahmed turned the tide in the seventeenth over. Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey and Abdul Samad departed in a single over as SRH once again choked spectacularly at the death. Rashid Khan tried to pull off a mini-miracle but Harshal Patel kept his composure in the last over and RCB won the game by 6 runs.

Maxwell once again came ahead of AB de Villiers and fulfilled the management’s trust in him. He started with a brilliant inside out shot off Rashid Khan but remained unusually calm and waited for the bad deliveries. Vintage Maxwell was on display in the eleventh over as he took Nadeem to the cleaners with two sixes and a boundary.
