IPL 2018 was an emotional roller coaster of a tournament for the fans of the Indian Premier League, as the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals came in back, after a 2-year hiatus and made their mark on the tournament. Here’s a look at some of the interesting numbers that were registered on the statistics sheets of IPL 2018.

Most Runs in IPL 2018:

The Orange Army, as they like to call themselves, the Sunrisers Hyderabad saw one of their players yet again walk back with the crown of the Orange Cap on his head. Kane Williamson was the highest run-getter of the tournament with 735 runs to his name in 17 matches, and placed right below him was Rishabh Pant, the new mainstay of the Indian team, with his tally of runs at 684 runs in 14 matches.

KL Rahul, another household name in the Indian cricketing circles was the next player in the tally with 659 runs in his account. The two heroes of the Chennai Super Kings’ campaign Ambati Rayudu and Shane Watson with 602 and 555 runs to their names respectively were the players at the number 4 and 5 spot.

Most Wickets in IPL 2018:

Taking the batsmen of IPL 2018 by storm with the ball in hand was Andrew Tye of the Kings XI Punjab as he picked as many as 24 wickets in 14 matches and bagged the Purple Cap. The next positions in the list saw Sunrisers Hyderabad players, Rashid Khan and Siddarth Kaul, both of whom had taken 21 wickets each, take the 2nd and 3rd spot in the leader boards.

Umesh Yadav, who was playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, had one of the better seasons of his run in the tournament so far, as he managed to pick up 20 wickets in 14 matches. Trent Boult came in next, with 18 wickets to his name in the 14 matches that he played in.

Most Sixes in IPL 2018:

IPL 2018 saw the rise of Rishabh Pant in the truest sense, as he established himself as a six-hitting machine, with 37 biggies credited to his name. Shane Watson of the Chennai Super Kings followed Pant, with 35 sixes in his tally. And, one six short of Watson’s tally, was his teammate, Ambati Rayudu, who with 34 sixes to his name was there to give Watson company.

KL Rahul and the batting powerhouse from the Kolkata Knight Riders, Andre Russell held the 4th and 5th positions and were separated by only a 1 six margin. Rahul at number 4 had hit 32 sixes and Russell at number 5 had hit 31 sixes in total, rounding off the six hitters’ leader board of IPL 2018.

Most Fours in IPL 2018:

Further strengthening his presence in the minds of the fans and analysts of the game of cricket, Rishabh Pant also managed to bag the top spot in the four hitting list of IPL 2018. He hit a total of 68 balls into the fence. KL Rahul, of the Kings XI Punjab, missed out on equalling Pant’s tally as he fell short by just 2 hits.

The player occupying the 3rd spot in this closely contested list, Kane Williamson, was in turn short of Rahul’s tally by 2 fours as he managed to send 64 deliveries across the boundary rope. Suryakumar Yadav and Shikhar Dhawan were the players rounding the list off, with 61 and 59 sixes to their names respectively.

Most Fours in IPL 2018

Fastest Fifties in IPL 2018:

KL Rahul, smacked a 14 ball half-century in his team’s match against the Delhi Capitals and cemented his name in the record books as the batsman to have hit the fastest fifty in IPL 2018. Ishan Kishan and Sunil Narine, both of whom had it 17 ball fifties against the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers Bangalore were the players at the number 2 and 3 spots.

Jos Buttler, playing for the Rajasthan Royals was the player to have hit the 4th fastest half century of IPL 2018, as he hit one against the Delhi Capitals. Following him was Sam Billings of the Chennai Super Kings who hit a half century in 21 balls against KKR.
