Four Wickets taken by Shikhar Dhawan in the IPL

Shikhar Dhawan is enjoying his time in the IPL as he is back in the Indian T20 side as well. He is the first player to score back to back hundreds in the history of the IPL. He is one of the most consistent openers in the tournament as he scores more than 500 runs in almost every season. The southpaw is known for his batting but do you know that he has got four wickets in the IPL? Yes, you read it right, Shikhar Dhawan who might not have bowled in the last five years in the IPL has got four wickets in the IPL and those are big wickets. So, let’s have a look at the four players which he has dismissed.

4. Sourav Ganguly

Shikhar Dhawan has got the wicket of Prince of Kolkata in the IPL. Sourav Ganguly who is known as Dada was one of the finest left-handers to have ever played the game and Dhawan got his wicket in an IPL game. Deccan Chargers were playing against Pune Warriors India in 2012. DC batted first and put up 186 on the board. While chasing 187, PWI were in a good position as Sourav Ganguly was batting on 45 and that’s when Dhawan got rid off him. It was an important wicket in the context of the game or else the game could have drifted in Pune’s favour.

3. Shaun Marsh

Shaun Marsh is one of the most underrated players of the IPL. He is one of those players who has played for only one franchise – Kings XI Punjab. He was also the orange cap winner in the first season of the IPL. KXIP were up against Deccan Chargers and KXIP were batting first. They had started well in the powerplay as Shaun Marsh and Mandeep Singh put up a 50-run partnership and that’s when Shikhar Dhawan was introduced in the attack. He struck in his first over as he got rid of the dangerous Shaun Marsh. Even though DC lost that game, it was an important wicket for Shikhar and his team.

2. David Warner

Shikhar Dhawan has got the wicket of one of the finest IPL openers in the history of the IPL. Many bowlers have struggled to stop the Australian left-hander but Dhawan somehow managed to get his wicket. Deccan Chargers were up against Delhi Daredevils and they put up 168 on the board. Chasing 169, Sehwag got out early but David Warner was going strong as he scored a half-century. The game was in the balance with Warner still at the crease. Shikhar Dhawan was bought in for one over and in that one, he got the big wicket of David Warner. In the end, it turned out to be a crucial wicket as DC won the game by just 16 runs.

1. Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag has got out to Shikhar Dhawan in the IPL. Even Dhawan wouldn’t believe that he has got the wicket of Virender Sehwag in his IPL career. Once again, Deccan Chargers were up against Delhi Daredevils and DC was batting first. Dhawan batted beautifully as he scored 84 off just 49 balls which took DC to 187/4 in their 20 overs. Chasing 188, Sehwag and Warner came out to open and Dhawan got the wicket of Sehwag in the first over for just four runs. Dhawan got hammered after that wicket as he gave away 27 runs in his two overs. The wicket didn’t matter in the end as Warner scored a century and Delhi chased down that score in just 16.4 overs.
