Take a look at the most expensive players in IPL history

The Indian Premier League which was started in 2008 is the biggest T20 league in the world right now. IPL is the league where players around the world get paid a lot of money for those 6-8 weeks. The lives of many players have changed because of the IPL as they get huge amounts of money from this league. On that note, let us have a look at the most expensive players of all time in the history of the IPL.

13. Rashid Khan – 15 CR

Rashid Khan who made his IPL debut in 2017 is one of the most expensive players of all time. In 2017, he was bought by SRH for 4 CR. From 2018 to 2021 he had a salary of 9 CR in the IPL but from this year onwards he will be part of the Gujarat Titans franchise for 15 CR. He was signed before the Auction by the GT franchise.

12. MS Dhoni – 15 CR

MS Dhoni who is one of the star players of the IPL was one of the most expensive players in the history of the IPL during the 2018 Retention when he was retained for 15 CR by CSK. In the first-ever IPL Auction, he was the most expensive player in 2008 as CSK bought him for 6 CR. This year he has been retained at 12 CR by CSK.

11. Hardik Pandya – 15 CR

Hardik Pandya will be part of the Gujarat Titans from this season as he was signed before the Auction for 15 CR. Pandya who started his IPL career in 2015 for 10 Lakhs has come a long way as he will be earning 15 CR in a single season. From 2018 to 2021 he was retained by the Mumbai Indians for 11 CR.

10. Kyle Jamieson – 15 CR

The New Zealand pacer who had a stellar debut year got picked up in the IPL Auction for 15 CR by Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the 2021 IPL Auction, Kyle Jamieson was one of the most expensive players as RCB bought him for a whopping 15 CR. He didn’t register his name for this year’s auction.

9. Ishan Kishan – 15.25 CR

Ishan Kishan who was part of this year’s auction got picked up by his old franchise – Mumbai Indians for 15.25 CR. Ishan Kishan first came in the IPL Auction in 2016 when Gujarat Lions picked him for just 35 Lakhs. From this year onwards, Kishan will get 15.25 CR per season.

8. Pat Cummins – 15.5 CR

Pat Cummins who is Australia’s Test captain wasn’t part of the 2019 IPL and so was part of the 2020 IPL Auction which was a Mini Auction. He was the talk of the town before the Auction and in the auction, he became the most expensive player as KKR bought him for 15.5 CR. Pat Cummins started his IPL career way back in 2014 for the same time at just 1 CR per season. This year he has been picked at 7.25 CR by the same team.

7. Yuvraj Singh – 16 CR

Yuvraj Singh who was picked by RCB for 14 CR in the 2014 IPL Auction was picked for an even higher price in the next IPL Auction as DD bought him for 16 CR in the 2015 IPL Auction making him the most expensive player in the history of the IPL at that time. Yuvraj Singh had started his IPL career with Kings XI Punjab at 4.25 CR in IPL 2008.

6. Rishabh Pant – 16 CR

Delhi Capitals retained their captain and wicket-keeper batsman – Rishabh Pant for 16 CR in this year’s retention before the Auction. Pant has always been part of the Delhi franchise, as they bought him for 1.9 CR in the 2016 IPL Auction. He was retained at 8 CR from IPL 2018 to IPL 2020.

5. Rohit Sharma – 16 CR

Rohit Sharma who is the current Indian captain and has won the IPL trophy five times was retained for 16 CR before the 2022 IPL Auction. During the last Mega Auction, he was retained for 15 CR. Rohit Sharma started his IPL career with Deccan Charger for 3 CR per season. MI picked him up in the 2011 Auction for 9.2 CR and since then he has been part of the MI family.

4. Ravindra Jadeja – 16 CR

Ravindra Jadeja was CSK’s first retention this year and not MS Dhoni. Jadeja was retained for 16 CR before this year’s auction. Jadeja was part of the RR franchise which won the IPL in 2008 for 12 Lakhs per season. He went to CSK in 2012 for 9.2 CR per season. He was part of the Gujarat Lions franchise for a couple of years but then came back to CSK.

3. Chris Morris – 16.25 CR

The South African all-rounder who recently retired from all forms of cricket – Chris Morris was part of the IPL 2021 Auction when RR bought him for a mind-boggling 16.25 CR making him the most expensive player in history of the IPL Auctions. Morris played in the IPL for the first time in 2013 when he got 3.32 CR per season. He was part of the Delhi franchise for 4-5 years before playing his last IPL season for RR.

2. KL Rahul – 17 CR

KL Rahul recently became the joint most expensive player in the history of the IPL as he signed a deal of 17 CR per season with the Lucknow Supergiants franchise. KL Rahul was first picked by RCB in 2013 for 10 Lakhs. In the 2018 IPL Auction, Rahul was picked for 11 CR by Punjab Kings but he decided not to get retained ahead of this year’s auction.

1. Virat Kohli – 17 CR

Virat Kohli, the former Indian captain is the most expensive player in the history of the IPL as he got retained for 17 CR ahead of the 2018 IPL Mega Auction. RCB got Virat Kohli in 2008 for just 12 Lakhs and the rest as they say is history. He is the only player to play all 14 seasons for one franchise. Kohli was retained for 15 CR ahead of this year’s auction.
