The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League will get underway soon, and the excitement is at the peak especially after the mega auction that happened last week in Bengaluru. There are 10 teams in IPL 2022, and all teams have big names as their coaches.
The coaches will play a big role in IPL 2022 because the competition is bigger. There are more teams and more matches. Speaking of IPL 2022’s coaches, here’s a list of the head coach of all 10 teams.
1. Gujarat Titans have one of the new coaches in IPL 2022 – Ashish Nehra
New team Gujarat Titans have named 2011 World Cup-winning player Ashish Nehra as their head coach. Previously, Nehra was with RCB as a bowling coach.
2. Lucknow Super Giants – Andy Flower
Another new team in IPL 2022, Lucknow Super Giants, have signed former Zimbabwean batter Andy Flower as the head coach of their side.
3. Chennai Super Kings – Stephen Fleming
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings have continued their association with former New Zealand cricket team captain Stephen Fleming as the team’s head coach.
4. Mumbai Indians – Mahela Jayawardene
Mumbai Indians have retained former Sri Lankan team captain Mahela Jayawardene as their head coach for the 15th IPL season.
5. Delhi Capitals – Ricky Ponting
IPL 2020 runners-up Delhi Capitals played under Ricky Ponting as their coach last year, and the same will continue in IPL 2022.
6. Kolkata Knight Riders – Brendon McCullum
Last year’s IPL runners-up Kolkata Knight Riders have continued with former New Zealand cricket team captain Brendon McCullum as their head coach.
7. Punjab Kings – Anil Kumble
Former Indian team captain Anil Kumble is the head coach of Punjab Kings. Kumble also worked as India’s head coach once upon a time.
8. Rajasthan Royals have assistant coaches in IPL 2022 but no head coach – TBA
Rajasthan Royals have not named their head coach for IPL 2022 yet. They have assistant coaches, but they did not name a replacement for Andrew McDonald after parting ways last year.
9. Sunrisers Hyderabad – Tom Moody
Sunrisers Hyderabad replaced Trevor Bayliss with Tom Moody after finishing last in IPL 2021.
10. Royal Challengers Bangalore – Sanjay Bangar
Royal Challengers Bangalore initially signed Sanjay Bangar as a batting consultant but they have appointed him as the head coach ahead of IPL 2022.
