Although the sale of the two new franchises was completed a few months ago, BCCI took its time to arrive at the auction date. That said, the highly anticipated event will take place this weekend. IPL 2022 Mega-Auctions will happen on February 12th and 13th in Bengaluru. The streaming will start at 11 am (IST) on February 12th. In South Africa, the auctions will happen on February 12th and 13th. On February 12th, the auctions would start at 7:30 am. SuperSport, which recently telecasted the India vs South Africa series, will also stream the IPL 2022 Mega-Auctions. In New Zealand, the streaming will start at 6:30 pm (Wellington) on February 12th. Sky Sport NZ (Sky Sport 2) will telecast the event. The second day of the auctions will also follow the same timing.
590 players to go under the hammer this weekend
IPL 2022 will involve two new teams. Based out of Ahmedabad and Lucknow respectively, the franchises will be called Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants. Since two more teams are entering the fray, more players will get a chance to feature in the league. Accordingly, the purse of each team has been increased to INR 90 cr for IPL 2022.
At least eight more foreign players will take part in IPL 2022 and hence, the curiosity to watch the event will be high abroad. In India, it is expected that the auctions will form the highlight event for the weekend.
IPL 2022 is all set to happen in India. Although official confirmation is yet to arrive, BCCI is said to have made plans to host the event in the country. As per reports, IPL 2022 will start at March-end.
