In a disappointing update for all members of the Delhi Capitals fanbase, the team’s ace South African pacer Anrich Nortje will be unavailable for the first two matches of IPL 2022. According to a report by Cricbuzz, Nortje is likely to be available from the third match of the DC squad.
There was always a question mark over Nortje playing for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022 because he has been ruled out of action since long. Nortje did not play the home series against the Indian cricket team and also missed the series against New Zealand and Bangladesh.
Now that Anrich Nortje is going to be unavailable for Delhi Capitals in their first 2 matches, here are three players DC can play instead of him.
1. Lungi Ngidi may take the place on Anrich Nortje in Delhi Capitals playing XI
Delhi Capitals have a good group of fast bowlers, which is why they may not miss Nortje so much in the initial two matches of IPL 2022. One of the fast bowlers who can replace Nortje is his compatriot Lungi Ngidi. The rising star previously played for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and did a decent job for the MS Dhoni-led outfit.
2. Khaleel Ahmed may play instead of Anrich Nortje for Delhi Capitals
The Delhi Capitals are likely to use the duo of Chetan Sakariya and Shardul Thakur as their primary pacers alongside Nortje. So if Nortje is not available, they can also look to include Khaleel Ahmed in the team. Ahmed is a left-arm pacer who has played international matches for India.
