Faf du Plessis hints he won’t be retained by CSK ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction

Faf du Plessis was the second highest run scorer in IPL last season

Faf du Plessis, in a conversation with one of the fans on twitter, has hinted that he is not one of the 4 players Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are planning to retain ahead of the mega auction of next year’s IPL.

CSK’s 4th title triumph earlier this year had a lot to do with Faf’s heroics with the bat at the top of the order as he was not just the second highest run scorer for CSK, he was the second highest run scorer in the entire tournament and missed the orange cap only by a slender margin.

However, CSK has got so many quality players in their ranks that they are finding it hard to retain Faf du Plessis. The latest reports say that apart from retaining two of their superstar Indian players, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, the CSK management is thinking about retaining Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali as the 3rd and the 4th player.

Faf Du Plessis says he is hoping to be back at CSK

Recently, when a fan texted Faf du Plessis in his personal message inbox on twitter and requested him to stay at CSK for next year as well, Du Plessis replied to him saying that staying or not staying at CSK is not his decision, but he is also hoping that he becomes a part of the CSK squad again.

Even if CSK doesn’t retain Faf du Plessis as one of the 4 players ahead of the mega auction, the chances are high that they will try and buy him from the open auction, but the recent form of Du Plessis has been so good that he might turn out to be a very expensive player in the auction.

CSK’s motive of looking to retain Moeen Ali is totally understandable as Moeen gives them both the batting and the bowling option, pretty much like Ravindra Jadeja.
