IPL 2020: One Best Buy For Each Team

It’s still only early days in IPL 2020, but the picture is starting to get a bit clearer in terms of the effectiveness of the decisions that the teams made during the last auction. Every team has got one or two new players who have come in and have made a difference straightaway.

Here’s the one best buy for each team in IPL 2020 –

#1 Chennai Super Kings (Sam Curran)

While most of the old horses of CSK have been struggling this season, Sam Curran has been the only shining light for the team in his debut season. While he has grabbed 5 wickets in the tournament, he has also played some impact knocks with the bat, one of which came in the opening game against the reigning champions Mumbai Indians.

#2 Mumbai Indians (Trent Boult)

Trent Boult has been able to do exactly the kind of job he was signed for. Mumbai already had a great death bowling resource in the form, of Jasprit Bumrah. So, the reason they went for Boult is because they wanted some impact with the new ball as well and Boult has indeed delivered quite a few new ball wickets for the team.

#3 Kings XI Punjab (Ravi Bishnoi)

Ravi Bishnoi might not have got too many wickets yet, but he has not given the batsman any sort of freedom to smack him all around the park. Despite being only 19 years of age, he has held his shape so far in the tournament and has managed to contain the batsman even in the high scoring games.

#4 Royal Challengers Bangalore (Isuru Udana)

Isuru Udana’s economy rate is a bit on the higher side, but he bowls all the difficult overs for RCB.  While he takes the new ball in the power-play, he comes back to bowl in the death as well and despite going at a slightly higher economy rate, he has done a reasonable job for RCB so far.

#5 Sunrisers Hyderabad (Priyam Garg)

Priyam Garg is another product of India’s U19 team and hasn’t played too much of cricket at the senior level, but the kind of maturity he has shown in this IPL despite being asked to bat at a tricky batting position and at tricky junctures of the games, it’s been wonderful. He is certainly a player to watch out for.

#6 Delhi Capitals (Marcus Stoinis)

Marcus Stoinis has already scored two match winning half-centuries in the 5 games he has played for Delhi Capitals and that itself proves what a fantastic addition he has been to the Delhi Capitals squad. Apart from his contributions with the bat, Stoinis has delivered the goods with his death bowling as well on a couple of occasions for Delhi.

#7 Rajasthan Royals (Rahul Tewatia)

Rahul Tewatia has been vital in the two victories Rajasthan Royals have secured in IPL 2020 so far. While in the first game against CSK, he bowled a terrific spell to return the figures of 37/3 on an extremely small ground of Sharjah, he smacked 7 sixes in the next game against Kings XI Punjab to win another game for Rajasthan with the bat.

#8 Kolkata Knight Riders (Eoin Morgan)

Eoin Morgan is being slotted very low in the batting order, but he is still making handy contributions with the bat for KKR and has played a key role for them already this season. He is also adding a lot to the leadership group of the team with his tactical knowledge of the game and there have been speculations already that he might take over the captaincy of KKR going ahead in the season.

Abhishek

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
