With the cricketing world slowly returning to what will be the new normal, it looks like we will be witnessing the return of another tournament this cricketing season. IPL 2020 edition could be well on its way to our TV screens.
According to ANI, the tournament could begin from 19th September this year and the Finals will be played on 8th November. Due to the postponement of the T20 World Cup, there is a window between September 10 to November 10 for the BCCI to conduct the IPL 2020. However, a final decision is yet to be taken.
“IPL in all likelihood will start on September 19 and the final will be held on November 8. It is a 51-day window which will suit the franchises as well as the broadcasters and other stakeholders,” Senior BCCI officials told to PTI
The IPL was going to begin from March 29, but the global pandemic forced the BCCI to postpone the tournament. With the England-West Indies Test series underway, live cricket is making its return to the TVs. The BCCI also seems to be working towards the same goal.
The postponement of the ICC T20 World Cup has provided the Board with a big time frame to organize the tournament. The IPL governing council Charmain Brijesh Patel had earlier announced that the IPL would be held in the UAE.
