Royal Challengers Bangalore qualified to the playoffs of IPL 2021 with a 6-run win over Punjab Kings on Sunday. RCB had been struggling against Punjab since the last season, and hence, the win over them was sweet for the players. In this article, we take a look at Virat Kohli‘s reaction to Punjab’s ‘Shanti’ Tweet after the win over PBKS recently.

Punjab’s ‘Shanti’ tweet had received criticism in the first phase of IPL 2021

RCB had started IPL 2021 on a good note. However, Punjab Kings were wobbly with their beginning. In the game against RCB, though, the KL Rahul-led squad was in top form. Harpreet Brar came up with a stunning performance as they defeated RCB easily.

Around the end of the game, the mood in RCB’s camp was muted because the team was heading for a loss. Taking a picture of this, Punjab Kings posted a Tweet with the caption “Yahan pe sab shanti shanti hai”. The tweet did not go down well with the RCB followers and neutral viewers in general. It was considered disrespectful to the opposition. Hence, PBKS had to take down the tweet.

Virat Kohli takes a dig at the comment

Virat Kohli is a customer who often gives it back. It was no surprise that he took reference to the infamous sentence used by PBKS. After winning the game, he said “Bahut Shanti hai aaj”, which was captured on camera. Hence, he indirectly took a dig against Punjab Kings.

After nailing a spot in the playoffs, RCB will now be keen to get into the Top 2. This way, they would get an additional opportunity to reach the finals. The scenario is very much possible with the team facing Delhi Capitals, who are also one of the contenders for the Top 2 spot. The other team that RCB will clash against is Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are in poor form.
