BCCI sacks KL Rahul as the vice-captain of the Test team for the last two Tests against Australia
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday (19th February) announced the squad for the remaining two Tests for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The governing body has retained the same team with Jaydev Unadkat, who was released from the squad for the Ranji Trophy, has also been named.
However, one of the main noticeable things in the squad is that no vice-captain has been named for the team for the last two Tests. It’s just an indication that the team has sacked Rahul as the vice-captain of the team.
Rahul has come under a lot of scrutiny for his torrid run in Test cricket. A lot of eyebrows were raised when he started the series. But it was expected that he would give a befitting reply to all the critics. But it didn’t happen as he failed in the first game, scoring just 20 runs.
Rahul got the backing of the team management in the second game as well but the same story continued for him as he yet again failed and managed just 18 runs across two innings. With him having a poor average of just 33 in over 45 games, it’s fair to say that the future doesn’t look good for him.
Coming to the series, India has thumped Australia in both the games are the leading the series 2-0. They have retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the record four consecutive time.
Here’s India’s squad for the last two Tests against Australia:
Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul, S Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, R Jadeja, Mohd Shami, Mohd Siraj, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat

Ashwin should be named as Vice Captain.
He is India's 2nd most wicket taker and deserves that respect in the team.— The Responsible Indian 🇮🇳 (@ThResponsibleIN) February 19, 2023
WHY THE HELL IS RAVI ASHWIN NOT VC IN TEST …. JUST WHY!!!???
