India vs Australia 2020: Five players who were unlucky to miss out on selection

India has named the squad for the tour of Australia for all three formats and while most of the names are expected names, there have been a couple of new faces as well.

However, a lot of players who have performed really well in IPL 2020 have been overlooked as well and despite deserving a look-in, they have not been named in either of the three squads.

Here are the 5 players who are unlucky to miss out on selection –

#1 Suryakumar Yadav

Almost everyone who has scored runs in domestic cricket or in the IPL in the recent times has got the opportunity to play for India at some stage, but Suryakumar Yadav just can’t get the attention of the selectors despite scoring heaps of runs in the IPL every season.

India currently has a lot of top order batsmen who are capable of playing international cricket, but there are not too many quality middle order batsmen around. Suryakumar is among the very few of them who has got the 360 degree game and can finish the innings efficiently, but the selectors ignored the Mumbai right-hander once again.

#2 Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan is one of those players who have got the combination of touch and power game and that’s the reason why he can bat in the top as well as in the middle order. Two of the half-centuries that Ishan has scored in IPL 2020, one of them has come opening the innings, while one has come batting at no. 4. So, he can bat at different positions which is always an advantage because such players can then be used as a floater in the line-up.

Also, because of the fact that Ishan has got the power game, he could have cleared the big Australian grounds with much larger dimensions than the grounds in Indian. But, the selectors overlooked Ishan as well.

#3 Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin was dropped from India’s limited over squads three years back as India decided to go with wrist spinners in white ball cricket. However, the way Ashwin has performed in the IPL ever since, there were talks he might be recalled into the squad for the Australia tour as he clearly seems to have gained more control with his white ball bowling that he had when he was dropped from the squad.

The Indian selectors did drop a wrist spinner to pick a finger spinners for Australia tour, but rather than going with Ashwin, they went with the new IPL sensation Varun Chakravarthy who is a mystery spinner. Ashwin has been picked in the Test squad, but not in the T20I squad.

#4 Rahul Chahar

Rahul Chahar is a classical leg spinner who not only bowls with a decent speed through the air, he gets the ball to fizz off the surface as well. Also, he can turn the ball both ways. Since he has got the complete skill-set of wrist spin bowling, he has been tipped as someone who can not only play T20I cricket for India, but can represent the country in Test match cricket as well.

But, the selectors didn’t seem to consider Rahul Chahar for any of the three squads despite the fact that the leg spinner has been in decent form for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020.

#5 Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi is only in his first season of the IPL and hasn’t got a whole lot of experience, but the temperament that he has shown in his very first season while bowling to some of the most explosive hitters around the globe, it’s commendable.

Bishnoi is a bit different from Chahar in the way that he doesn’t really flight the ball, but he can also spin it both ways and is generally very accurate with his areas. But, he is another one who was unlucky to miss out on selection for Australia tour.

Abhishek

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
