But a few handy knocks in 33 by skipper Rohit Sharma and 44 by Virat Kohli kept them in a tone hunt. Axar Patel, who set the stage on fire with the bat as he scored 74 runs, yet again shined for the side with the bat and rescued the Indian innings to take India to a total of 262 runs.

However, with the ball, they made sure that they wrap up Australian innings as quickly as possible. Ravindra Jadeja wreaked havoc across the Australia batting lineup and picked seven wickets. Ashwin complimented him well as he took 3 wickets to bundle out the opposition for 113 runs.

Pujara and Virat Kohli (20) then batted beautifully. Shreyas Iyer was in a hurry to finish the game but he fell while hitting for

But it was Pujara who remained unbeaten on 31 runs and along with KS Bharat (22*)  guided his side home by 7 wickets in his 100th Test and helped his team take a lead of 2-0 in the series and retain the BGT for the 4th consecutive time.
