We have heard so many times about those injuries which create a sudden downfall in a cricketer’s career. However, there have been very few injuries that forced cricketers to retire early. The same scenario has happened once again as Imran Qayyum bids goodbye to cricket. It would be shocking to know that he was 27-year-old at this interval.
The main reason behind this drastic decision is the unexpected shoulder injury. He was an integral part of the Kent side for the last so many matches. He made his debut way back in the year 2014. The cricketer featured in a total of 82 games which includes all the formats.
Qayyum stated on May 20 that, “It’s disappointing that my career has been cut short, but I can look back with pride on the contributions I’ve made as a Kent player. I’ll have nothing but good memories. I’m very grateful for the opportunity that Kent Cricket gave me to live my childhood dream.”

Imran Qayuum played for multiple teams in his career
The cricketer was a part of the three sides before he joined the Kent side. Middlesex youth teams, Northamptonshire, and Sussex’s second 11 teams were the three teams that he played for. His career featured a total of 29 List A games, 45 T20s, and six first-class games.
His best bowling figures were recorded at five wickets for 21 runs. The bowler achieved this milestone during his game against the Somerset side. He grabbed a total of 45 wickets in the T20 format with an average of 25.73.
Bowling his slow left-arm deliveries, he made his FC debut on May 15, 2006. And a few months after that, he made his LA debut on January 25, 2017. He had a decent run with the bat, too, as he scored 55 runs in FC and 99 runs in LA. However, an injury forced him to take a u-turn. It would have been a better ending if he got more chance to showcase his skills.
