In what has been a major boost for Indian Cricket Team, batted Shreyas Iyer has joined the team ahead of the second Test against Australia in Delhi that will be played from 17th to 21st February.
Iyer suffered a knee injury ahead of the ODI series against New Zealand and was ruled out of the series. He was then shifted to NCA for rehab. He underwent his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy following his back injury and was deemed fit by the BCCI Medical Team.
Iyer’s absence certainly left a void in India’s batting lineup as batters struggled to get going against the spin in the middle order. The right-hander of late has been India’s mainstay in the middle order and him being a good player of spin will only boost his side’s strength.
In his place, Suryakumar Yadav batted in the middle and failed to get going. But with Iyer being fit, it is likely that he will walk straight into the XI.
