It was a nip and tuck encounter between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Lucknow Super Giants in the latter’s den where runs were hard to come by and the bowlers produced a nail-biting finish in a low-scoring thriller. The Royal Challengers Bangalore secured the bragging rights of the game as they trumped the Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs, adding two more points to their tally. However, it was Virat Kohli vs Gautam Gambhir that sealed the show between the two powerhouses of the tournament.
Batting first RCB could post 126 for the loss of nine wickets from their 20 overs, thanks to a motivated showdown from captain Faf du Plessis himself who would score 44 from just 40 balls while Virat Kohli’s 31 was also another major propeller for the Royal Challengers in posting a warring total on the scoreboard.
Here is where things horribly south for LSG
What seemed like a total, 20 runs too less than a match-winning one, would soon turn into something massive for the Lucknow Super Giants as a clinical bowling display led by an incoming Josh Hazlewood sealed the fate of the tie for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The beef between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir started doing the rounds and as soon as the game got over, things turned out ugly and dark for two of India’s most prized players, one who is still ruling the roost while the other being stuck in a limbo of his own, as the gulf between the two former captains was simply reigning supreme.
Virat Kohli zips up KL Rahul and Lucknow Super Giants
It all started a decade ago when Virat and Gautam Gambhir went head on against each other, playing for their respective franchise. However, things were rekindled in 2023 when Gautam Gambhir asked the RCB fans to shut up in Chinnaswamy.
Virat Kohli gave it back in equal measures as he zipped the LSG fans at the Ekana Sports City after RCB secured a clinical win against the latter. In fact in a statement against the Rahul led brigade, Kohli said, “If you can give it, you gotta take it. Otherwise don’t give it.”
