With Asia Cup 2022 not proving to be a great campaign for the Indian cricket team, a debate has started around the Indian playing XI for ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The fans have been wondering if the management should go into the World Cup with the same set of players or if they need to make a few changes to ensure the playing XI doesn’t lag behind in certain departments where they lagged behind in the Asia Cup.
Here is India’s strongest playing XI for ICC T20 World Cup 2022 –
Openers (KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma)
Even though Virat Kohli scored a hundred opening the batting for India in the last game of the Asia Cup against Afghanistan, it’s unlikely that he will continue in that position. KL Rahul will be the opening partner of the captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will occupy the one-down position in the batting order that he has occupied for most parts of his career.
Middle Order (Virat Kohli, SKY, Axar Patel)
While SKY will bat at no. 4 because he is a very good player of spin and can find boundaries even in the post-powerplay period with field spread and 5 fielders on the boundary, India will have to use Axar Patel up the order to bat at no. 5 because most of the opposition teams will either have a left-arm spinner or a leg spinner in their bowling attack and a left-hander can counter that.
Allrounders and finishers (Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik)
It’s expected now that Dinesh Karthik will be preferred over Rishabh Pant in the T20 World Cup as he is a good player of fast bowling and can hit boundaries from ball one. He will bat down the order at no. 7 and his partner to finish the innings will be Hardik Pandya who will also be one of the seam bowlers in the side, precisely as the 6th bowler.

Bowlers (Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal)
If everyone is fit, Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah will walk into the Indian XI straightaway in the T20 World Cup. India has invested a lot in Harshal not just because he can bowl in the middle overs and in the death, but he can bat a bit down the order too. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will bowl most of his overs in the powerplay, while Yuzvendra Chahal will have to provide breakthroughs to India in middle overs
