Before the main event, India will be involved in two warm-up fixtures. The games will be against Australia and New Zealand. In the Super 12 Stage, India’s main opponents will be Pakistan and South Africa. In 2021, India lost its first fixture against Pakistan. This set the tone for the remaining games. Therefore, India will be raring to start the tournament well. If that happens, they will more or less be in a very good situation to reach the next stage of the competition.
Here is India’s schedule for the 2022 T20 WC:
- India vs Pakistan – October 23rd (Melbourne)
- India vs A2 – October 27th (Sydney)
- India vs South Africa – October 30th (Perth)
- India vs Bangladesh – November 2nd (Adelaide)
- India vs B1 – November 6th (Melbourne)

Team India has not won any ICC events in recent years. Despite being arguably the biggest cricketing nation, the men in blue have failed to win elite trophies consistently. After the debacle in the previous edition, there were a number of changes made by BCCI. There is new management at the helm and they have to deliver trophies at the earliest.
A number of players in the squad are facing criticism for not being able to do well in marquee events. If such players do not step up, they might find it hard to retain their place in the squad. On the other hand, for players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik, the upcoming event might be their last T20 World Cup.
