“I Would Have A Proper Retirement Match”- Unhappy Goldberg Slams WWE

Goldberg has made a statement about an alleged “broken promise” by WWE about his retirement that has gone viral. RingSide News has a report on this story.

Goldberg has recently claimed that WWE gave him assurances of a final match which they did not honor. His last match was at the Elimination Chamber PPV last year against Roman Reigns that he lost. WWE told him that he would have a final match after that but just let him leave as his contract ended. This has left a sour taste in the mouth of the Hall of Famer.

Will Goldberg get a retirement match in WWE?

RingSide News has bad news for Goldberg fans and has reported that there is “no discussion about Goldberg at all.” They have received this news via a WWE creative team member, so they’ve claimed it to be true. The wrestling source also added that “no one within the organization talks about Goldberg in a creative sense.”

The once upon a time unstoppable human wrecking ball recently spoke to Adam Carriker on 93.7 The Ticket. He explained the circumstances leading to his exit from WWE. He claimed that he had a handshake agreement with Vince McMahon regarding a proper retirement match.

Unfortunately, that never happened and his contract ran out. He said, “Vince McMahon and I had a handshake understanding that, you know, after the Roman Reigns match, I would have a proper retirement match. And, you know, that hasn’t come to fruition through them. And so, therefore… you know, nobody puts a stamp on my career.”

WWE not fulfilling Goldberg’s last wish could be attributed to the fact that Vince himself left the company last year. He was in a scandal where he had apparently $20 million in hush money to female employees. He had to resign from his Chairman’s position after that. Since McMahon was very high on Goldberg, his departure from the company eventually led to Goldberg’s departure as well.
